Safety guidelines
Reuniting an item should never put anyone at risk. These are the rules we ask every member to follow.
Meet in busy public places
Choose a café, shopping centre, station concourse or reception area during daylight hours. Never a private home, car park or empty street.
Bring someone with you
Tell a friend or family member where you are going, who you are meeting and when you expect to be back.
Verify before you hand over
Finders should hold back one detail and ask the claimant to describe it. Owners should be ready to describe contents, marks or engravings.
Keep your data private
Never publish phone numbers, home addresses, serial numbers, IMEI, card numbers or document numbers in a listing.
Never pay in advance
Reward or courier requests before you have seen your item are the most common scam. MissingsWorld never asks for a fee to release an item.
Report anything that feels wrong
Pressure, threats, changing stories or refusal to verify — stop the conversation and contact support.
If it involves a person, not an item
MissingsWorld handles lost and found belongings. A missing person, a crime, or anything involving immediate danger must go to your local police or emergency services first. We cannot act as an emergency service.
